Our Board

Friends of the Fruitville Library Board MembersThe Friends of the Fruitville Public Library Board of Directors are volunteer community members who are dedicated to supporting the Fruitville Library through their mission to the children, youth, and adults of Sarasota County and beyond. They give their time and talent to ensure the success of the Fruitville Friends.

Board members attend monthly meetings, lead or actively participate on a standing or event committee, assume board/committee leadership roles for projects and activities, are aware of their community and are willing to network within that community on behalf of the Friends of the Fruitville Library.

Areas of Board expertise include, but are not limited to Finance, Membership, Friends Bookstore, and the Reading Garden.

Expectations of Board Members

  • Join the Friends at a level of their choosing
  • Attend meetings with regularity
  • Promote, attend and assist with Friends’ functions
  • Promote the Friends by spreading the word about membership and events
  • Assist in Fundraising events

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m.. in the Meeting  Room at the Fruitville Library, map.

Friends’ decisions are guided by their By-laws and mission statement.

Board Members are elected for a three-year term by membership vote at the Annual Meeting held in January. Officers may serve additional terms with Board approval. Newly elected Board members take office immediately.

Three Non-Voting members also serve on the Board; Library Manager, Bookstore Manager and Master Gardener Representative.
